FURMAN FALLS 89-57 IN CHAMPIONSHIP GAME OF

FUN IN THE SUN CLASSIC

CANCUN, Mexico ­ Furman's Lady Paladin basketball team fell 89-57 to Pepperdine in the championship game of the Fun in the Sun Classic Tuesday night in Cancun, Mexico.

Kim Lawrence led the Furman effort with 15 points and freshman guard Monica Pope added 12, but in the first haf the team shot just 22.9% from the field and 16.7% from three point range to fall behind 39-18 at the break. In the second period, the Waves of Pepperdine shot an outstanding 54.8% from the field to outscore Furman 50-39.

After a short break for the holidays, the Lady Paladins return to action on Dec. 29 in a 3 p.m. game at UNC Greensboro. Furman's next home game is a 5 p.m. matchup with Appalachian State on Wed., Jan. 2.
