LADY PALADINS ROLL IN EXHIBITION BASKETBALL WIN

GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- The game looked like the exhibition contest that it was with a combined 56 turnovers and 99 missed shots, but the Lady Paladin basketball team rolled over St. Augustine's College 74-47 Monday night in Timmons Arena.

In the first of two preseason exhibition games, Furman shot 42.6 from the line, 60.0% from the free throw line, and 25.0% from three point land. Freshman guard Monica Pope (Union City, Ga.) poured in 17 points on five-for-seven shooting from the field and a seven-for-11 night from the line, while sophomore Alison Thomason (Pickens, Ga.) added 12 points and Deshara Shealey (Greenbay, Va.) added 10. In addition, junior forward Orion Wake (Woodbridge, Va.) added eight points and claimed a team-high 10 rebounds in the victory.

The Lady Falcons of St. Augustine's were paced by Ashley Silas and Sheba Fulwood, each of whom scored 10 points.

Furman's Lady Paladin basketball team is in action again on Sunday, Nov. 11, in a 3 p.m. exhibition matchup against the Charlotte Stars.
