SOUTHERN CONFERENCE WOMENıS BASKETBALL COACHES SELECT ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM

ASHEVILLE, NC ­ The Southern Conference womenıs basketball coaches have cast their votes and selected the 10-person All-Conference team for 2002. Chattanooga, Davidson, Furman, UNC Greensboro, Western Carolina and Wofford all placed players on the squad.

Co-regular season champion Chattanooga placed three players on the team. Senior guard Damita Bullock was named to the team for the third straight year after averaging 11.8 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Joining her on the team is junior forward Jennifer Wilson, a two-time selection, and sophomore guard Miranda Warfield, a first-time selection.

UNC Greensboro, who shared the regular season with Chattanooga, placed two players on the team. Senior guard Samika Foster is averaging 10.3 points and 1.96 steals per game for the Spartans. Also representing UNCG is sophomore forward Jacinda Lambert, who leads the Spartans scoring 12.6 points per game and is shooting 47.9 from the floor.

Junior Orion Wake and sophomore Deshara Shealey were named to the all-conference squad for Furman. Wake has led the league in rebounding consistently this season and is averaging 9.1 carooms per game. Shealey has remained among the scoring leaders, averaging 12.1 points per game.

Davidson, Western Carolina and Wofford each placed one player on the team. Senior Janna Magette represented the Wildcats after leading the league in free throw percentage, averaging 86.3 percent from the charity stripe. Western Carolina senior Laura Echols is averaging 19.4 points per game, second in the league and has been among the top two all year.

Woffordıs Jenny Nett was also named to the team. The 2002 Player of the Year, Nett led the conference in scoring for most of the year, averaging 20 or more points consistently and is currently scoring at a 20.9 points per game clip.
