ATLANTA BLACKHAWKS TOP FURMAN 82-75 IN EXHIBITON ACTION

GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- Furman junior Althea Bufford (Cleveland, Ohio) scored a team-high 15 points, but the Lady Paladin basketball squad dropped an 82-75 decision to the Atlanta Blackhawks in exhibition action Tuesday night.

The Blackhawks were led by Nadine Demond, who scored 20 points on four three pointers and four free throws. Jacqueline Ransem also scored in double digits, with 17 points, while Tracy Williams added 15 and Kim Smith tallied 14.

In addition to Bufford's 15 points, freshman Kim Lawrence (Atlanta, Ga.) scored 12, Orion Wake (Woodbridge, Va.) tallied 11, and Deshara Shealey (Greenbay, Va.) totaled 10. Despite the loss Furman was strong on the boards, outrebounding the Blackhawks 61 to 35. Wake led the Lady Paladins on the boards with 14, including eight defensive rebounds.

The Lady Paladins are in action again on Wednesday, November 15, in a 7:30 exhibition game against Supreme Court.
