LADY PALADINS DOWN WESTERN CAROLINA 79-72


 

The Furman Lady Paladin basketball program got off to a 1-0 start with a 79-72 overtime victory Tuesday night in Cullowhee, N.C., over conference foe Western Carolina.

Furman and Western were tied at 62 at the end of regulation, but the Lady Paladins outscored the Catamounts 17-8 in the overtime period to take the victory. It was Furman's second consecutive overtime game, having won 95-92 over Supreme Court in two overtime periods during the exhibition season.

The Lady Paladins were led Tuesday night by Mary Brock's 23 points and Tara Charles' 19.

Furman is in action again on Friday, Nov. 24, at the Indiana University Classic. The Lady Paladins will face the host Hoosiers in the tournament's first round.
