FURMAN FALLS 69-62 TO LEAGUE-LEADING MOCS

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee -- The Furman women's basketball team's three-game win streak came to an end Wednesday night, when the Mocs of Chattanooga overcame a 33-28 Furman lead at halftime to post a 69-62 win over the Lady Paladins in Southern Conference action. With the win, the Mocs stay atop the Southern Conference standings with a 7-0 league record, while Furman's conference mark falls to 4-3.

Entering Wednesday night's game, Furman was 8-0 this season when leading at the half, but UTC's perfect conference record was also on the line, and the Mocs stormed back to outscore the Lady Paladins 41-29 in the second period on 48.5% shooting from the field. In addition, the Mocs were just the fourth opponent of the season to outrebound Furman - UTC won the boards was 49-35.

The Lady Paladins were led on the night by senior Torrie Scott's 14 points, while Kena Hodges added 12 and Althea Bufford totaled 11. Tara Charles weighed in with a team-high six assists, while Orion Wake and Mary Brock each tallied six rebounds.

The Mocs were topped offensively by preseason conference Player of the Year Damita Bullock, who scored 13. Miranda Warfield added 12, while Tishay Lewis and Jennifer Wilson each totaled 10.

Furman will face the Eagles of Georgia Southern on Saturday, Jan. 20, in a 3 p.m. matchup in Timmons Arena.
