LADY PALADINS IMPROVE TO 6-3 WITH 82-68 VICTORY

ANNAPOLIS, Maryland -- Furman's Lady Paladin basketball team improved to 6-3 on the year with an 82-68 win over Murray State in the first round of the Navy Classic Wednesday evening in Annapolis, Md.

Furman jumped out to an early lead and led the Racers 40-26 at halftime. In the second period, MSU scored 42, but Furman matched the Racer output on the strength of 54.8% shooting from the field and took the 14 point victory.

Kena Hodges and Torrie Scott topped the Lady Paladin offensive output with 16 points each, while Hodges, Mary Brock, and Orion Wake each totaled six boards. Furman outrebounded Murray State 45-32 and had 13 steals to the Racer's five.

Furman will face the winner of the Navy - McNeese State game tomorrow in the championship game of the Navy Classic.
