FURMAN’S NDOYE NAMED SOCON PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman senior forward Maleye Ndoye today was named Southern Conference Player-of-the-Week for his performance in the Paladins’ 77-72 win over Georgia Southern in Statesboro on Saturday.

Ndoye, a senior from Dakar, Senegal, poured in a game high 26 points and added four rebounds and three steals in helping Furman snap Georgia Southern’s 13-game winning streak. The Paladin senior scored 20 of his 26 points in the first half to keep the Paladins in the game after falling behind by as many as 15 points.

Furman’s leading scorer on the season (15.0 ppg), Ndoye opened the season with a career high 32-point performance against James Madison and matched it a week later in a 91-84 overtime loss to Minnesota. He tallied 28 points in a 76-61 win over The Citadel and 27 points in a 91-55 triumph over Wofford.

Furman (12-9, 4-6 SoCon) returns to action tonight when it entertains Davidson in a 7:00 p.m. game at Timmons Arena.
