FURMAN MEN'S BASKETBALL ROUNDS OUT
2003-04 CLASS WITH FIFTH SIGNEE

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman men's basketball head coach Larry Davis today announced the signing of Moussa Diagne to a national letter of intent.

A 6-8, 225-pound forward from Thies, Senegal, he joins four other recruits in giving Furman a five-man recruiting class for the upcoming 2003-04 season. Last November the Paladins inked Gerad Punch, a 6-4 wing guard from Phoenix, Ariz.; Eric Webb, a 6-2 combination guard from Grand Rapids, Minn.; and Quan Prowell, a 6-8 1/2 forward from Columbus, Ga. Last week Furman announced the signing of 6-foot-7 forward Julius van de Laar from Heidelberg, Germany.

Diagne averaged 14.9 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game and earned all-state honors as a senior at Evangel Christian Academy in Louisiana, where he played for Todd Foster. After graduation in 2002, he attended Mount Olive Preparatory Academy in Woodstock, Ga., this past year.

In addition to his prep experience, he has played internationally as a member of Senegal's National Team with Furman teammate, senior Maleye Ndoye.

"Moussa is a tremendous athlete for his size and has great potential," said Davis.
