FURMAN BASKETBALL ADDS THIRD
RECRUIT FOR 2004-05

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman men's basketball coach Larry Davis announced today the signing of George Brozos, a 6-foot-7, 235 pound forward, to a national letter of intent.

A native of Thessaloniki, Greece, Brozos played last season at Reserve Christian (La.) Academy, where he averaged 18.0 points and 9.8 rebounds per game on a squad that posted a 39-12 record. He also shot 39.0 percent from 3-point range, 52.0 percent from the field, and 81 percent from the free throw line.

"We're thrilled to add a shooter of the caliber of George Brozos and another front court player with tremendous upside potential," said Davis on Monday. "He is a product of one of the best high school programs in the country."

Brozos, whose Reserve squad ranked as high as No. 18 nationally a year ago, earned all-tournament honors after scoring 17 points in a 78-61 win over nationally No. 3 ranked Ranier (Wash.) Beach Academy and 22 points and eight rebounds in a 79-76 triumph over eighth-ranked Westchester (Calif.) Academy in the prestigious 2003 Slam Dunk To The Beach Tournament in Lewes, Del.

In addition to Furman, Brozos was also recruited by Western Kentucky, Baylor, and Wisconsin-Green Bay. His signing gives Furman three recruits this year. Last week the Paladins announced the signing of Stanley Jones, a 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward from Miami, Fla. (Monsignor Pace Prep), and last November inked 6-foot-2, 180-pound guard Jadee Jones from Apple Valley, Minn. (Hopkins High School).

Furman posted a 17-12 record in 2003-04 under Davis, who is entering his eighth season at the helm of the Paladin program.
