FURMAN OVERWHELMS ERSKINE, 89-51

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Quan Prowell paced four double figure scorers with a game high 16 points to lead Furman to an 89-51 win over Erskine in basketball action Tuesday night at Timmons Arena.

Prowell, a freshman forward from Columbus, Ga., converted 6-of-7 field goals and 3-of-5 free throws to go along with a game high nine rebounds and five blocks for Furman (8-6). Robby Bostain and Moussa Diagne added 13 points each, and Eric Webb chipped in 11 points for the Paladins, who won for the ninth time in their last 10 home games.

Bobby Isom led Erskine (4-4) with 14 points. Idris Mayo and Kevin Parker both added 11 points for the Flying Fleet, who fell for the 22nd consecutive time to Furman.

After a Kevin Parker 3-pointer gave Erskine an 11-5 lead five minutes into the game, Furman outscored the Flying Fleet 40-9 over the next 13 minutes to take command. A Moussa Diagne dunk off a Ryan Carson assist gave the Paladins a 45-20 lead with 2:02 left in the first half.

Ahead 49-26 at intermission, Furman used a 11-3 spurt over the first four minutes of the second half to blow the game open. A Maleye Ndoye 3-pointer with 15:11 to go put the Paladins comfortably ahead, 60-29.

Furman shot 54.2 percent for the game, converting 32-of-59 field goal attempts, including 9-of-23 three-pointers. Erskine, meanwhile, shot only 36.5 percent from the field, making good on 19-of-52 shots.

The Paladins overwhelmed the smaller Flying Fleet on the boards with a 44-27 advantage. Furman also racked up a season high seven blocks.

Furman returns to action on Saturday when it entertains Southern Conference South Division rival Georgia Southern at Timmons Arena in a noon game that will be televised by Fox Sports South.
