FURMAN BASKETBALL NAMES
MIKE SHEDD ASSISTANT COACH

GREENVILLE -- Furman men's basketball coach Larry Davis today announced the hiring of Mike Shedd as an assistant coach.

Shedd replaces Chris Keeling, who resigned last month following two years at Furman to pursue other career opportunities.

"I'm extremely happy to have Mike join our staff," said Davis on Wednesday. "He has worked our camp the last three years and has demonstrated outstanding ability in working with people and as a coach."

Shedd, 28, comes to Furman following two years at Ohio State University, where he served as video coordinator and director of summer camps for the Buckeye women's basketball program.

Prior to his stint at Ohio State, he spent three years at Eastern Michigan University, where he served two seasons as a video coordinator and director of summer camps under head coach Milton Barnes. He was promoted to assistant coach for the 1999-00 campaign and helped the Eagles capture the Mid America Conference championship.

A native of Albion, Mich., and 1997 graduate of Purdue University where he earned a bachelor's degree in physical education, Shedd served as head freshman football coach at Harrison High School in West Lafayette, Ind., from 1993-95 and later as junior high school head basketball coach at Lafayette Central Catholic for the 1996-97 campaign.
