SOUCHU'S 26 LEADS FURMAN PAST SLOVAKIA-LEVICE 94-72
IN EXHIBITION BASKETBALL ACTION THURSDAY

GREENVILLE -- Karim Souchu scored a game high 26 points and Anthony Thomas added 23 to lead Furman to a 94-72 win over Slovakia-Levice in exhibition basketball action Thursday evening at Timmons Arena.

Souchu, a junior All-Southern Conference forward from Parrs, France, connected on 9-of-13 field goals and 5-of-6 free throws to pace the hot shooting Paladins, who converted 58.5 percent from the field (31-of-53). Thomas, a senior guard from Atlanta, tallied all but one of his baskets from 3-point range, making good on 7-of-8 attempts from beyond the arc to headline Furman's strong perimeter offense. In all the Paladins converted 13-of-23 3-point tries (56.5 percent).

Joining Souchu and Thomas in the double figure scoring column were freshman forward Paco Gonzalez with 13 points and junior forward Kenny Zeigler with 12 points. Guilherme Da Luz added nine points and a game high eight assists for the Paladins. Jan Drobny paced Slovakia-Levice with 20 points.

Furman opens its season on Nov. 16 against Georgia in Athens.
