FIVE PALADINS TALLY DOUBLE FIGURES
IN 87-54 WIN OVER EMORY

GREENVILLE -- Karim Souchu scored 15 points to lead five Paladins in double figures in Furman's 87-54 win over Emory Saturday night at Timmons Arena.

Souchu converted 7-of-13 field goals and claimed seven rebounds to pace Furman (6-1) to its sixth straight victory and give the Paladins the program's best season start since the 1987-88 season. Robert Spivey led Emory (2-6) with a game high 22 points.

Joining Souchu in scoring double figures for Furman were Anthony Thomas with 13 points, Maleye Ndoye with 12, Guileherme Da Luz with 11, and Nick Sanders with 10. Da Luz also registered 11 assists in the contest.

After falling behind 10-5 following a layup by Emory's Robert Spivey at the 17:45 mark, Furman held Emory scoreless over the next 11 minutes to fuel a 30-0 run that put the Paladins ahead 35-10 following a free throw by Paco Gonzalez with 6:55 left in the first half. Emory never got closer than 17 points the rest of the way.

For the game Furman shot 53.8 percent (35x65), including 7-of-15 (46.7 percent) from 3-point range. The Paladins outrebounded the Eagles 49-30 and forced 27 turnovers. Gonzalez paced Furman's effort on the boards with a game high 11 rebounds.

After a break for exams, Furman will return to action next Saturday against Wisconsin, in Madision. Tipoff is 4:00 p.m.
