FURMAN'S DA LUZ NAMED ALL-SOUTHERN
CONFERENCE BY LEAGUE COACHES

GREENVILLE -- Furman guard Guilherme Da Luz has been named All-Southern Conference by vote of the league's head coaches, it was announced today.

Da Luz, a junior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, was one of 10 players named to the all-league team. He averaged 12.5 points and 5.1 rebounds and paced the conference with 185 assists in 27 games this year. In addition, he established new Furman single season and career assist records in helping Furman to a 14-13 overall record and fifth place finish in the conference's south division.

"This is a well deserved honor for an outstanding player," said Furman head coach Larry Davis. "He's had an excellent season and has been a major factor in our impovement this year, contributing in every area on the court, including quality leadership."

Furman, the No. 5 seed in the south division, takes on north division No. 4 seed Western Carolina on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. in the Mountain Dew Southern Conference Tournament at the North Charleston Coliseum.
