FURMAN BASKETBALL INKS LEAVENWORTH, KANSAS
STANDOUT NICK SANDERS TO NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT

GREENVILLE -- Furman University head basketball coach Larry Davis announced today the signing of Nick Sanders, a 6-foot-7 forward from Leavenworth, Kansas, to a national letter of intent.

Sanders, a three-year starter, all-conference, and all-state selection at Leavenworth High School, averaged 11.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg as a junior a year ago while helping his squad to a 23-2 record and 6A state championship ‹ the highest classification in Kansas. He scored a team high 16 points in Leavenworth's 59-56 win over Junction City in the state championship game.

"We're extremely excited to sign Nick Sanders because of his ability as a player and because he's a proven winner," said Davis Thursday afternoon. "He's played on a national championship 16-under AAU team and was a starter on last year's state championship team. In addition, he's a rare breed of player who plays hard on every play, as if every trip down the floor will be his last."

Sanders registered his AAU experience with the Kansas City 76ers, helping his squad to a 56-4 record and national title in 1998.

He is the first signee for Furman in the early signing period.
