FURMAN BASKETBALL TO TIP OFF 2000-01 SEASON
SATURDAY NIGHT VERSUS ATLANTA CHRISTIAN

GREENVILLE -- Furman University's men's basketball team tips off its 2000-01 season Saturday night at Timmons Arena when it hosts Atlanta Christian beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Fans with Furman-Chattanooga football game ticket stubs will be admitted free to the contest.

Paced by sophomore forward Karim Souchu, Basketball News' Southern Conference Preseason Player-of-the-Year, Furman returns four starters and eight lettermen off last year's squad that posted a 14-18 record and advanced to the league tournament semifinals.

Furman defeated Neptunas of Lithuania 74-57 in its lone preseason exhibition contest on Nov. 8.
