FURMAN BASKETBALL ANNOUNCES
FIRST SPRING SIGNEE

GREENVILLE -- Furman University head basketball coach Larry Davis announced today the signing of Francisco Gonzalez, a 6-foot-7, 235-pound forward from Coral Gables, Fla., to a national letter of intent.

Gonzalez averaged 17.0 ppg and 11.0 rpg as a senior as a senior at Coral Gables High School while helping his team to a 19-8 record. He scored 17 points in the Dade County vs. Broward County All-Star Game, and 18 points in the annual North Miami vs. South Miami All-Star Classic.

Gonzalez earned Key West Christmas Tournament Most Valuable Player honors after leading Coral Gables with a 23-point performance in the championship game.

In inking with Furman, Gonzalez becomes Furman's first recruit of the spring season and third overall signee. In November the Paladins announced the signing of Jason Patterson, a 6-foot-4 product of Lithonia (Ga.) High School and 6-foot-7 forward Nick Sanders of Leavenworth, Kansas.
