FURMAN ROUTS CROSSFIRE MINISTRIES 93-55
IN RARE MIDSEASON EXHIBITION GAME

GREENVILLE -- Jorge Seraphim's 16 points paced five double figure scoring performances in Furman's 93-55 rout of Crossfire Ministries in a rare midseason exhibition game Saturday night at Timmons Arena.

Seraphim, a 6-foot-4 freshman forward from Sao Paulo, Brazil, converted 6-of-10 field goal attempts, including a pair of dunks, and knocked down 3-of-4 3-pointers, to headline a balanced Paladin attack. Karim Souhcu added 14 points, Maleye Ndoye 13, Guilherme DaLuz 12, and Anthony Thomas 12 points for the Paladins.

Calvester Furgeson tallied a game high 25 points for Crossfire Ministries.

"The main thing we wanted to accomplish was to give all of our guys a chance to play to get ready for our conference opener, and I was pleased that everybody got some quality minutes," said Furman head coach Larry Davis. "We hadn't played since Dec. 21, and with our opener (vs. College of Charleston) next Wednesday we needed a game."

Furman shot 59.1 percent from the field (39-of-66) and 62.5 percent from 3-point range (10-of-16) and suffered only five turnovers in the contest. Defensively, the Paladins limited Crossfire Ministries to only 33.8 percent shooting from the field (22-of-65) and 23.1 percent from 3-point range (6-of-26) while forcing 25 turnovers.

Furman took command from the start, racing to a 31-4 lead following a dunk by Seraphim with 8:39 left in the first half.

Leading 49-22 at intermission, the Paladins stretched their advantage to as many as many as 44 points in the second half following a layup by Paul Foster that made it a 79-35 with 8:15 left.
