PERRY'S COMPLETE GAME LIFTS FURMAN TO A 8-1 WIN OVER UNC GREENSBORO

GREENSBORO,N.C.-- Dominic Franchini went 4-for-5 with one RBI, while Sam Perry tossed a three-hit complete game, as the Furman baseball team defeated UNC Greensboro, 8-1, in Southern Conference action Sunday afternoon at the UNCG Baseball Stadium.

Furman improves to 8-15 overall, 2-4 in the Southern Conference, while UNCG drops to 19-5, 6-3 in league play.

Franchini got Furman on the board early in the first on a run scoring triple to right. Franchini scored one batter later on an infield single by Matthew Betsill.

After runs by Furman in the second and fourth innings to increase its lead to 4-0, Case Cassedy lined a one-out double to right center scoring Betsill and Franchini to push the Paladin lead to 6-0.

Paladin leadoff hitter Andrew Greene added three hits, while Craig Caudill, Derek Norman and Betsill had two each.

Perry picked up his second win of the season and his first complete game of his career, while Ryan Falcon (0-2) suffered the loss for the Spartans.

UNCG returns to action on Wednesday at home against Harvard at 6 pm, while Furman hosts Elon in a three-game weekend series beginning on Friday at 7 pm.
