FURMAN BASEBALL OPENS 2004 SEASON THIS WEEKEND AGAINST HIGH POINT

Greenville, S.C.—The 2004 Furman Baseball team is set to open its season on Saturday in a double header against High Point at Furman Baseball Stadium. The first pitch is slated for 12:00 pm.

The Paladins finish up the series against the Panthers on Sunday with the contest scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm.

Other highlights on this season’s schedule are a home and home series against nationally ranked Winthrop along with non-conference games against Clemson, South Carolina, Texas Christian, Oklahoma State, and Louisiana-Lafayette

The Paladins open the Southern Conference season when they host Georgia Southern on March 19. Furman also faces tough conference home games against College of Charleston, Davidson, Wofford, and newcomer Elon.

Six position players and one starting pitcher return from last year’s squad, including preseason All-Southern Conference catcher Derek Norman and pitcher David Mitchell.

The Paladins, who were picked a consensus seventh in both preseason polls, posted a school record 32 wins, including victories over N.C. State, Clemson and South Carolina last season.
