FURMAN-GEORGIA SOUTHERN BASEBALL SUSPENDED
IN 11TH INNING DUE TO RAIN, LIGHTNING

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Saturday’s Furman-Georgia Southern baseball game has been suspended in the top of the 11th inning due to rain and lightning and with the score tied 4-4. The contest will be completed beginning at 1:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the start of the third game of the Southern Conference series.

The contest was suspended at 9:12 p.m. after Furman had taken the field to start the 11th inning After a 40-minute delay, game umpires decided to suspend the contest until Sunday.

Furman jumped out to a 4-0 lead after four innings before Georgia Southern battled back to tie the contest with a pair of runs in the fifth and single runs in the seventh and eighth innings.

Starting pitcher John Carroll has gone the distance for Georgia Southern, pitching 11 innings and throwing 158 pitches. The Gainesville, Ga., product recorded a career high 12 strikeouts and only one walk prior to the game’s suspension.
