DEREK NORMAN NAMED TO PRESEASON ALL-SOUTHERN CONFERENCE BASEBALL TEAM

SPARTANBURG, SC -- The Southern Conference released its preseason All-Southern Conference baseball team, which was selected today by the league's coaches.         

Junior Derek Norman was selected as the catcher for the second team and was the only Paladin to make either team.  Last year Norman led Furman with a .374 batting average and was second on the team in RBI (45) and home runs (9).         

Furman, 26-34, 14-16 in conference play during the 2002 season, opens its 2003 season on February 8th with a double-header against High Point.
