Charleston continued to score in the fifth, plating four runs on three hits and one error to take a 13-1 advantage. In the sixth, Zach Strong blasted a three-run home run to left field, driving in Stanley Nix and Jack Arroyo to extend the lead to 16-1.

In the sixth, Richie Dean singled to center field to score Craig Caudill and Brett Henninger to trim the Cougars' lead to 16-3. Brandon Barrett followed in the seventh inning with a two-run home run, scoring Dominic Frankey.
