MOLL'S THREE-RUN HOME RUN SINKS FURMAN 4-2

Greenville, S.C.-- Aaron Moll's three-run home run proved to be the difference as the Cincinnati Bearcats defeated Furman Saturday afternoon at Furman Baseball Stadium 4-2.

With the win, Cincinnati improves to 1-1 on the year, while Furman falls to 2-3.

Furman struck first in the third inning when Clint Hill singled off Bearcat starter Chad Pennington (1-0), driving in Brandon Barrett, who reached earlier on a single.

Paladin starter Corey Etheridge (0-1) cruised through first three innings allowing only two hits, while striking out four. In the fourth, though, Etheridge walked the first two batters before giving up a home run to left center to Moll, which brought Chris Hamblen and Brett Clark home. The Bearcats scored another run in the seventh, after pitcher Brian Corcoran balked in Joe McBride from third.

The Paladins cut the lead to two runs in the bottom of the seventh when Barrett had a sacrfice fly to right field, allowing Richie Dean to cross the plate.

Cincinnati cut Furmanšs comeback attempt short as reliever Johnny Swanson pitched the final 1 2/3 innings to pick up his first save of the year.

The two teams conclude the three game series on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
