FURMANıS DEREK NORMAN NAMED SOUTHERN
CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

GREENVILLE -- The Southern Conference on March 13 announced Furman catcher/designated hitter Derek Norman baseball Player of the Week for games played from March 5 through March 11.

Norman, a freshman from Knoxville, Tenn., hit .563 (9 for 16) with eight runs scored, seven RBI and five extra base hits in leading the Paladins to a Southern Conference sweep of East Tennessee State and a non-conference win over South Carolina.

Norman went three for five, hit a two-run double and scored three runs in Furmanıs 5-4 win over the fifth-ranked Gamecocks on March 7.

In the first game of the series against ETSU, a 12-3 win, Norman singled, doubled, tripled and recorded two RBI. On Saturdayıs game he belted his first career home run en route to a two RBI performance. For the series the Norman went 6-for-13 and batted five runs in.

The Paladins next take on Georiga State on Wednesday March 14 at Furman Baseball Stadium. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
