FURMAN TOPS COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON 10-1,
TAKES SERIES TWO GAMES TO ONE

CHARLESTON, S.C.-- Dominic Frankey had three hits while teammates Derek Norman and Chris Valdes added two each as Furman cruised to a 10-1 win over the College of Charleston in the finale of their three-game Southern Conference series before 484 at Patriots Point Field.

The Paladins improved to 20-15 overall and 10-7 in league play. The Cougars fell to 17-18 and 7-10.

Norman scored three runs and drove in a pair as Furman scored three times in the top of the first and was never threatened. Adam Etherington and Ryan Presnell had two RBI and Danny Rueckel scored twice as the Paladins won two of the three meetings.

Charleston's lone run came on a one-out triple to right center by Micah Smith in the eighth and a run scoring single by Kevin Morris.

Toby David (7-2) picked up the win blanking the Cougars on just five hits en route to lowering his ERA to 2.28. He walked none and struck out four. David Jablonski (1-3) suffered the loss pitching on just three days rest. He allowed five runs, three earned, on three hits with three walks in 3 1/3 innings of work.

The Cougars are in action on Tuesday when they play at Charleston Southern at 3:00. The Paladins travel to UNC Asheville for 3:00 p.m. start on Wednesday.
