FURMAN-APPALACHIAN STATE BASEBALL GAME
HALTED IN EXTRA FRAMES DUE TO DARKNESS

BOONE, N.C.‹After four hours and 10 minutes of action, Appalachian State (5-15, 3-3) and Furman (15-7, 5-1) could not decide a winner in the first game of their Southern Conference series. With the score deadlocked at 6-6, the two sides went without scoring in the ninth and three extra innings before the game was suspended. Prior to the start of the 13th inning,

SoCon umpires declared the game be suspended due to darkness. It is scheduled to resume Sunday as the first of two games at Red Lackey Field beginning at noon. The original three-game series now becomes a two-game set.

According to SoCon rules, only two games can be completed in one day.
