FURMAN FALLS 10-2 TO UNC CHARLOTTE

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- UNC Cahrlotte's Brion Treadway pitched five innings and allowed only one hit to propell the 49ers to a 10-2 win over Furman (2-2) on Tuesday afternoon.

UNC Charlotte took an early four-run lead in the first inning scoring on three hits highlighted by Daryl Clark's three-run double. Furman decreased the 49ers' lead to three in the bottom of the first with junior Justin Maderer's solo home run, earning the Paladins' only hit against Treadway.

The 49ers scattered three additional runs over six innings against Furman pitchers Alex Vogel and Tom Mastny. In the eighth inning UNC Charlotte increased their lead to 10-1 scoring on Eric Shanks three-run homer. Furman junior Will Daugs scored the Paladins final run on a wild pitch after reaching on a single. The game was called due to darkness after the eighth inning.

Furman's Toby David suffered the loss (0-2), while Brion Treadway (1-0) earned the win for the 49ers. The Paladins travel to Auburn on Friday, February 11 for a weekend series with the Tigers.
