FURMAN BASEBALL FALLS 9-2 to COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman baseball (5-13,1-3 SoCon) lost 9-2 in the conference series opener against the College of Charleston (9-9, 4-0 SoCon) on Friday afternoon.

The Cougars took a one run lead in the first as senior Karl Morris scored on a Paladin error. Furman answered in the bottom of the second with four hits, highlighted by sophomore Jeff Adkissonıs double, to take a 2-1 lead. In the top of the fouth, a two-run homer by sophomore Rene Perez gave the Courgars a 3-2 lead. Junior Ronny MarmolŒs RBI single in the fourth and Morrisıs sacrifice fly in the sixth gave the College of Charleston two additional runs. The Cougars scored four runs in the ninth inning on three hits including a triple by Marmol for a 9-2 final.

Furmanıs Corey Etheridge (2-4) suffered the loss, while Cougar Lucas Hocker (1-3) earned the win. The Paladins will face the College of Charleston again on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. for game two of the series.
